National Medal of Honor Day - medal from each branch on blue background

According to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and the National Medal of Honor Museum, The Medal of Honor is the United States' highest award for military valor in action. Since its founding during the Civil War it has been presented to 3,526 recipients. (Roughly 23 of those are fellow Kansans and 3 from our County.) The meaning behind this Medal has never tarnished and symbolizes the timeless American ideals of courage, sacrifice, patriotism, citizenship, integrity and commitment. A deep love of country and a desire to always do what is right.
We congratulate those recipients and thank them for their selfless acts to stand beside their country and brothers and sisters in arms.
