Kansas School Bus Stop Arm Law

08/06/2021

With school districts in our area preparing for students to return to class, our agency would like to remind motorists the laws when following or approaching a school bus stopped at a bus stop to drop off or pick up students.

Kansas Law K.S.A. 08-1556 requires all motorists to STOP when approaching or overtaking a stopped school bus displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm. Motorists are to remain stopped until the bus is no longer displaying its flashing red lights and stop arm.

We must work together and pay attention for the protection of our students.
